Årsta Folkets Hus is an open democratic centre for culture and community; a unique K-listed cultural center with gathering spaces for cultural activities such as performing arts, cinema, music, and workshops. Because culture is for everyone.

Årsta Folkets Hus is a hidden gem with an abundance of activities and cultural experiences to offer, yet its doors can sometimes feel closed to those who have not already discovered it. Inside the building lies a rich and diverse cultural program, however it’s not clearly communicated to people passing by. It is in the gap between expectation and reality that the communicative opportunity emerges.

The purpose of our concept “Another World Awaits Behind the Door,” is to capture the feeling of leaving everyday life behind and stepping into a place filled with culture and community. The focus is on conveying the experience that unfolds inside the house itself. The creative concept uses the door as a recurring visual element. The door functions as an abstract metaphor for community, becoming a symbol of something that opens up and invites people in. Through posters, SoMe and OOH combined with a consistent visual identity, the contrast between the building itself and the vibrant content within its walls is brought to life. Curiosity is sparked and a clearer understanding of what Årsta Folkets Hus has to offer is created. The concept therefore shifts the perception of ÅFH from being seen as a local community venue to a constantly growing cultural destination. By dramatising the threshold into the building, the cultural experience becomes more accessible and appealing to new visitors.
